In a savvy awards show move, Gold Derby has learned exclusively that HBO will submit “Game of Thrones” scene-stealers Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington in the lead categories at the 2018 Golden Globes. This summer’s seventh season focused more prominently on their characters — queen of dragons Daenerys Targaryen and no-longer-bastard Jon Snow — which in turn gave the actors more screen time than ever before. Now that Clarke and Harington have jumped up to the lead races, it’s time to go in and update your Golden Globes predictions for Best TV Drama Actress and Best TV Drama Actor.

If this new strategy works out, both stars will be earning their first career Golden Globe nominations. Clarke scored a trio of Emmy noms (2013, 2015, 2016) while Harington earned a single Emmy bid in 2016. “Game of Thrones” has romped through the Emmys in recent years, winning Best Drama Series twice (2015-2016) and claiming a record of 38 awards over the course of its run. However, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has only given the show six nominations, with a single win for Peter Dinklage as Best TV Supporting Actor in 2012.

After six years apart, Season 7 of HBO’s fantasy epic finally allowed Clarke and Harington to share scenes — and bed sheets — together in their quest to rule the iron throne. What the characters don’t realize quite yet is that Daenerys is actually Jon’s aunt, which makes their love scene in the season finale all the more awkward.

HBO has confirmed to Gold Derby that while Clarke and Harington are jumping up to the lead races at the 2018 Golden Globes, all of the other “Game of Thrones” performers will be submitted in the supporting categories. The nominations for the Golden Globes will be announced December 11. Will this savvy strategy pay off for Clarke and Harington? [Source]

Now it’s their turn: On HBO’s Game of Thrones, the show’s powerful female characters are about to take center stage more than ever before. So for this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly, we go behind the scenes of the Emmy-dominating drama’s ultra-mysterious new season, plus profile six of the show’s leading ladies whose storylines are about to change Westeros forever.

“The women are rocking this season — and I’m not just saying that because they’re on your cover,” says HBO programming president Michael Lombardo. “Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) always does, but also Brienne (Gwendoline Christie), Arya (Maisie Williams), Sansa (Sophie Turner), Cersei (Lena Headey), Margaery (Natalie Dormer), and other characters too, like Yara (Gemma Whelan). They power this season. It’s organic to the storytelling, yet a radical shift. It’s the women that are the hope that we’re watching as the chess pieces move this season, and it’s very exciting.”

The ascension of Thrones’ female characters isn’t a new strategy. Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, working from the narrative template established by author George R.R. Martin, introduced Westeros five years ago as a male-dominated world ruled by figures like Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) and Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance). One by one, these strong and commanding men have suffered tragic turns of fate that have cleared the way for a fleet of heroines who have learned new strategies to survive and conquer in a brutal world. Off screen, too, the female actors have become breakouts — landing coveted roles in films ranging from Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Christie) and X-Men: Apocalypse (Turner).

In EW’s new double-issue, we profile the women of Thrones, tease what to expect in season 6, provide catch-up and binging guides, plus take you behind the scenes in Northern Ireland and Belfast to reveal how Thrones team pulled off its biggest season yet (and the best, according to the showrunners) while trying to keep more secrets from its fans than ever before.

EW has plenty of online Thrones coverage planned, too – exclusive news, cast interviews, recaps, and more (without spoiling any of the significant twists to come). [Source]

In an interview with Die Zeit, Emilia talks about how Terminator Genisys was a dream come true for her. The article is in German, but in case there are fans who are either German or understand German you can read it below. A beautiful new photoshoot has also been released. I have added medium and low quality outtakes to the gallery. You can view them by visiting the following link.

Emilia Clarke doesn’t want to be remembered as Daenerys Targaryen
Emilia talks about taking over an iconic role and how she’ll be sad when her big show comes to an end.

Emilia Clarke doesn’t want to be typecast. On many occasions the “Game of Thrones” star, who plays determined Mother of Dragons Daenerys Targaryen, has said she’s reluctant to do nudity — one of the reasons she turned down “Fifty Shades of Grey.” “I have done naked scenes before, and I was worried about being stigmatized by doing it again,” she admits. Now she’s in “Terminator: Genisys” playing a much more fierce character: Sarah Connor, the mother of post-apocalyptic revolutionary John Connor (Jason Clarke), who in the film’s own timeline has been fighting alongside nice killer cyborg T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger, again) since childhood.

Do you feel you’ve been lucky with the roles you’ve received?
If being lucky means being able to work for many years seeking an opportunity, then yes, I’ve been lucky. Television gave me a boost, but I don’t want people to remember me as Daenerys Targaryen from “Game of Thrones”.

The characters you play tend to be very strong. How alike them are you?
I’m not ultra feminist, but I feel that I identify with girls who can do everything, and who use their power to defend good causes. I now get to play with a very different version of a young Sarah Connor, and I like that a female character has become iconic.

Is it difficult to perform such an iconic role?
I think it was more exciting than scary; Sarah is legendary and beautiful. What we did was impregnate her with a different force and create something new.

You seem to gravitate towards action and fantasy.
I have fun. Although for that you have to be in shape and have good arms: holding weapons, shooting and running involves a lot of wheezing. When you see a big action movie, it seems like everything is easy, but when you start to do it, it’s not. Especially with Sarah, who’s a tough woman who becomes a warrior and draws strength from all sides.

Emilia Clarke: Game Of Thrones season six will be ‘sick’
Emilia has teased that the season six storyline will have even more shocks in store for Game of Thrones fans.

The 28-year-old actress, who reprises her role as dragon queen Daenerys Targaryen in the small-screen retelling of George RR Martin’s fantasy novels, has already had a glimpse at the scripts for the forthcoming season.

“I’ve seen some of the new scripts and I’m like a kid on a sugar high,” she told the Daily Star. The British actress continued: “I can’t handle how sick some of them are. “We’re just going to hit the audience with every episode, coming up with something more mental that the last. I can’t believe some of the twists in store.”

Emilia also weighed in on Jon Snow’s fate, hinting Kit Harington’s character will not return. The actress and her Game Of Thrones co-stars have started read-throughs and rehearsals for season six of the show.

Emilia talked to ELLE about her role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones and her role as Sarah Connor in Terminator Genisys. She talks the differences between Daenerys and Sarah Connor and more.

Did Emilia Clarke Just Say Sarah Connor Is More of a Badass Than Daenerys Targaryen?
That’s the Mother of Dragons you’re talking about.

Emilia Clarke is fearless. On Game of Thrones, she controls cities and dragons in Daenerys Targaryen’s quest for the Iron Throne. Off screen, the actress has been fashionably traveling the world to promote her upcoming film, Terminator: Genesys, on crutches due to a hip injury. Literally, nothing can stop her. Which is why we shouldn’t be surprised that nude action scenes in Terminator didn’t scare her, either. “Naked in a harness was fun,” the actress said during a press conference in L.A., reports People. “Doing stunts, that was good. That was interesting.”

Thanks to many steamy Thrones scenes, Clarke has had ample opportunity to find comfort in her own on-screen nakedness. But when she stepped into the infamous shoes of Sarah Connor, the 28-year-old actress entered nude territory: Time traveling in her birthday suit. When you time hop, you can’t wear any clothes, so Clarke strips down so she can levitate opposite costar Jai Courtney in the newest installment of the sci-fi franchise. Thanks to crafty camera angles, Clarke doesn’t appear fully nude in the film (“I had a few things I tried to hide,” she joked).

Emilia was on the cover of the Marie Claire July 2015 issue. You can read the article below. Emilia explains why she turned down the role of Anastasia in Fifty Shades of Grey. Photoshoot outtakes and magazine scans have been added to the gallery.

Emilia Clarke Is Even More Fierce And Fabulous On Our July Cover Than In Game Of Thrones
Emilia Clarke has revealed exclusively to Marie Claire why she turned down the role of Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey. In her cover interview in the July 2015 issue, the Game of Thrones star says she feared she would be typecast if she accepted the role in Fifty Shades of Grey because of her nude scenes in Game of Thrones.

‘I really wanted to work with [Fifty Shades director] Sam Taylor-Johnson because she’s fucking amazing. But there is a huge amount of nudity in the film,’ she explains. ‘I’ll never say, “I’m never doing nudity” because I’ve already done it, but I thought I might get stuck in a pigeonhole that I would have struggled to get out of.’

Dressed to kill in our July cover shoot, Emilia also talks about the epic film role that will further help distance herself from playing Daenerys, Mother of Dragons in the hit Sky Atlantic TV show. She’ll play Sarah Connor (a role originally played by Linda Hamilton) in summer blockbuster, Terminator Genisys.

In preparation she did hours of weightlifting every day. ‘Those fucking guns are super heavy,’ she recalls. ‘You’re running with them a lot of the time, and I needed to keep up with/be better than the boys. I needed to know what to do to have Arnold go: [adopting Arnie accent] “very nice”. That was my goal.’

Doctor Who’s Jenna Coleman and Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke in running to play Queen Victoria in new drama
Emilia Clarke, Lily James, Cara Delevingne and Kick-Ass star Chloe Grace Moretz are also in the frame for eight-part ITV production

There’s much excitement in TV drama circles about ITV’s lavish eight-part drama Victoria charting the early life of the great Monarch. But who to play her?

RadioTimes.com can reveal that ITV is aiming high and has a list of possibles which is big on the glam stakes for the Daisy Goodwin-scripted spectacular which starts filming in the autumn for broadcast next year. Casting folk are sizing up Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke (Mother of Dragons’ Daenerys Targaryen) as well as Downton’s Lady Rose herself, the actress Lily James.

Model/actress Cara Delevingne is another contender and, if that’s not enough, actress, model and Kick-Ass star Chloe Grace Moretz is also being considered. Last but not least on the list is Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman who, if tabloid reports about her friendship with Prince Harry are to be believed, could one day become proper royalty herself….

Made by the production company behind Poldark, Mammoth Screen, the drama will imagine Britain’s longest reigning monarch “who leaves childhood behind when she ascends the throne at the tender age of 18.” Said Goodwin: “I’ve been fascinated by Victoria since I started reading her diaries at university. She’s a woman whose personality leaps off the page – a tiny 4 foot 11 teenager who overnight became the most powerful woman in the world, and her candour and spirit makes for an irresistible heroine.

‘Terminator Genisys’ Cast Talk Rebooting The Franchise: ‘It’s The Same Machine’

Hitting theatres on Canada Day, July 1, Arnold Schwarzenegger is back in the role that made him famous, playing the Terminator in the sequel, “Terminator Genisys”. “It’s still the Terminator, it’s the same machine,” the actor says. Even though the machine has stayed the same, the rest of the cast has changed this time around. The latest installment takes us back in time, changing events in the first four films with an alternate timeline.

“Game Of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke plays Sarah Connor, a role, Linda Hamilton (and her impressive guns) made famous in the first film and the second sequel. Not a rookie in playing strong women, Clarke tells ET Canada’s Matte Babel that stepping into Connor’s shoes wasn’t easy. “She is different because the script that we were all lucky to work with has give her an entirely new back story,” the 29-year-old actress says. “I watched the movie a bunch when I was growing up, but when it came to doing this movie, I kind of stopped watching becuase I had to take our script and make it our own,” she adds. “And her guns were so darn impressive.” The actress also admits that taking on the iconic role might have influenced her role as Khaleesi on the hit HBO show “Game Of Thrones”. “It’s interesting,” Clarke says of shooting one “bada** to another” adding, “I feel like [season 5] of ‘Game Of Thrones’ has more of a kind of edge.”

Emilia was on the cover of the Vogue May 2015 issue. Vogue had an interesting article about Emilia and a very pretty photoshoot. I have added the photoshoot outtakes an magazine scans to the gallery. You can view the video ‘Emilia Clarke Cover Shoot – Game of Thrones Star Channels Khaleesi’ above and you can read the entire article below.

In Vogue: Emilia Clarke
Emilia Clarke, Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, abandoned her dragons for the fantasy of couture in the May 2015 issue of Vogue.

When I first arrive at the greasy spoon in Hampstead where Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke (who plays the platinum-blonde warrior queen Daenerys Targaryen) and I are due to meet, I almost turn on my heel and walk out. There are only two people here, drinking lukewarm coffee under the strip lighting, and one of them looks as if he might be homeless. The other one, a tiny brunette in black jeans and a black leather jacket, has her legs up on the chair beside her and is twiddling her hair absent-mindedly while reading Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch.

On closer inspection, there are a few clues that I have, in fact, found my cover girl: the Prada leopard-print loafers, the sequined green Alberta Ferretti overcoat on the back of her chair, the silver Yves Saint Laurent bangle, the matching Chanel red nails and lipstick. “Hi!” grins the actress best known to the tens of millions of Game of Thrones fans around the globe as the First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of Meereen, Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons.
